STORYTELLING THROUGH COMICS
6 sessions | Grades: 3-7 | April 8 – June 3* Mondays | 3:00-5:00pm Location: Multipurpose Room Instructor: Rachel Brett Cost: $120 for 6 sessions
A visual arts course created for comic, graphic novel and Japanese manga lovers! Students will explore the fundamentals of visual storytelling through comic creation. BC’s New Curriculum, Arts Education, Big Ideas:
Through art making, one’s sense of identity and community continually evolves
Experiencing art challenges our point of view and expands our understanding of others
Visual art is a unique language for creating and communicating
Engaging in the arts develops people’s ability to understand and express complex ideas

Through painting, drawing and mixed media, young artists will learn about studio-based arts practices and techniques. Together students will be encouraged to express themselves and learn about art making as a process through exploration of line, shape, texture, colour, value, space and form in relation to the artistic and cultural history of North Vancouver. A continuation of Studio Arts 2 that welcomes both new and returning students. BC’s New Curriculum, Arts Education, Big Ideas:
Creative expression is a means to explore and share one’s identity within a community

Be a Little Sole Girl at the Little Soles Program this Fall and Release Your Inner Awesome! Little Soles is a fun program that combines empowering games, discussion and mentorship to build confidence! Girls learn life skills, confidence, being responsible and being healthy in a safe and interactive environment. They will also learn how to be a positive peer, make new friends and goal set as part of an active lifestyle. Register for Little Soles and see a positive change and transformation in your girl! 9 weeks of Sole Girls curriculum + the run coach attended/led

Girls will meet once a week for nine weeks at Sherwood Park Elementary in Room 27. During the program, girls will mentally and physically prepare to run a Big Final fun run at the end of the season. (run registration not included)

Let’s raise a generation of girls who are mentally happy and healthy, who know it’s okay to be strong and soft at the same time, who know how to deal with adversity, and who are totally in-tune with their unique awesome-ness. At Girls with Grit, we use movement to show how strong our bodies are, mindful meditation (aka #braintrain) to show how strong our spirits are, and awesome crafts to show how strong our creative sparks are. We also talk about real topics like friendships, stress, pressure, stereotypes, technology, compassion, empathy and what being an awesome girl is really all about. Oh yeah - we also laugh a lot! We are excited to be launching our after school co-ed basketball program at Sherwood Park this spring. Our purpose is to encourage and develop fundamental basketball skills in a positive learning team environment. 3Pointbasketball was established in 2014 and is now participating in 9 schools across the North Shore. Our program is designed for the primary grade levels.

Gadgets and Gizmos is all about making fun from the STEM-based LEGO creations we build! From spinning tops to a spin art models, kids will love playing with the motorized LEGO creations they make. But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning, too – understanding probability in the “3-in-a-row” game model and learning about friction and symmetry with the spinning top lesson. Don’t miss out!

Faly Academy Soccer will be an 8 weeks program after school for students from Grade K-7 in the Gym. This program is open to all levels, boys and girls. It is a good way to get introduced to soccer, improve skills, and learn technical and tactical moves in a fun environment. It will run on Friday starting April 12 to June 7 from 3:00 to 4.45 PM. The cost is $160.
